Hortus Database

Access directly to the Hortus Database (in French).

This database brings together sources about plants in the great gardens of Europe in the modern era.

It has been developed within the framework of the “Plants in the Major European Gardens of the Modern Era” research programme which aims to specify which plants, trees, shrubs and flowers were used at Versailles and in other European gardens from the 16th to the 19th century.

The purpose of this database is to bring together and compare the many lists of plants in European archives, to match the names cited in the sources with the scientific names of these plants, and to enable researchers to consult these sources.

Accessible online from March 2012 through the Centre’s resource portal.
