This seminar is open to students enrolled in the Masters course “History of Heritage and Museums” directed by Arnaud Bertinet (Lecturer) at the université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
The seminar is structured around a visit to the former Historic Galleries at Versailles.
The students have the opportunity to discover several spaces, often closed to the public, that comprised the former Museum of the History of France: the Crusades Rooms, the Africa rooms, the Estates General room, the Gallery of Great Battles, and the Chimay Attic. In conjunction with the seminar’s theme, the visit will notably address the accumulation and management of the museum’s collections under the July Monarchy, the Second Republic and the Second Empire.
The event is organised by Bastien Coulon, research officer responsible for education and training activities at the Centre de recherche du château de Versailles.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, this seminar will be held at Versailles on 30 April 2025.
