This publication is the first book dedicated to the silversmiths and the art of silversmithing in the royal city of Versailles. Every king, queen, prince, and princess since Louis XIV placed orders with the silversmiths of Versailles, but this artistic legacy was almost entirely destroyed during the revolutionary meltdowns, causing the works and their specific hallmarks to disappear.
This book, the result of years of research by Paul Micio, an author and expert in antique silverware, reconstructs the tables of gold and silver hallmarks.
